APRIL 2010 BYRDS Training - All of the young horse went off to play at Cofton Manor to gain some valuable experience in the dressage phase, all the boys did very nice tests and had placings even when up against high quality dressage horses.
APRIL 2010 - Bickenhall - Sax finally got to his first event and was in the lead after the dressage what a good boy! Zac then did a brilliant test to slip in just behind him, both were very green in the show jumping as first time jumping off grass but did well and only touched one! Cross Country was very eventful with a wrong fence being jumped but all in all very pleased with the results.
APRIL 2010 - Weston Park - Balloting grrr.... Captain was balloted and so Ernie made the long trip alone, only to trot up lame in the dressage warm up. He is fine again now....alot of time and effort for not alot of reward....thats eventing for you!
MARCH 2010 - Gatcombe - Captain and Ernie went out to play at Gatcombe, with Captain doing his first intermediate, a really sucessful day had, learnt some lessons and Captain seemed to take his first intermediate in his stride. Ernie needs some breaks across the country but that is nothing new!
MARCH 2010 - Pammy Hutton Training - We went to get our grilling from Pammy at Talltrees, really good session well worth the trip but afterwards neither Claire nor Kayte could walk.
MARCH 2010 - Aldon Horse Trials - Yes we are finally at our first event of the season. It was very very wet, the dressage was like trying to perform in a bog, both boys were pleased to be out but steady runs kept them out of the placings.
MARCH 2010 - BD at Bicton - KOE and captain headed off to see if they could keep up with the dressage boys - they did and came second and qualified him for the regionals.
MARCH 2010 - Moreton - First outing for the babies, sax had to be withdrawn as he cut his mouth and could not wear his noseband! Zac thought it was very exciting but did a good dressage and clear show jumping but thought that the drop was very scary and was given a stop, so will now find every drop in sight ready for the next event!
FEB 2010 - Show Jumping at the Hand - all horses jumped on a ticket - so we missed out on any money remind us to join up next time!!! Sax and Zac jumped in the British novice with Sax having a double clear and Zac just having one pole. Captain jumped in tne newcomers and 1m15 and was fourth and had two double clears, Ernie was practising for Badminton and jumped an impeccable clear in the 1m20 class.
FEB 2010 - Dressage at Bicton - Captain and Ernie went along, just for more outings before the season starts and ended up with two seconds and a fourth, Zac won his first ever class and then decided that it was all too exciting and had a bucking fit in the second class.
FEB 2010 -Dressage at Tall Trees - A very sucessful outing to Talltrees for the dressage following on from Pammys training, young horses came home with all the rosettes and the old pros were a bit further down the placings but still got a ribbon, two seconds, one first a fourth and a fifth not bad for a days work.
FEB 2010 -Pammy Hutton Clinic - Pammy Looked at Young Horses Anzac Lad & Bently and thinks they both have real potential, her words were "4* horses" - we are now very excited. Captain and Ernie also had a work out in preperation for the season, they are going back to see her in a month.
FEB 2010 -Nick Gauntlett Clinic - Zac, Sax & Captain went to the NIck Gauntlett clinic at Bicton and had a good school prior to the season, all jumped very well, Zac & sax had their first look at Ditches and Banks and took it all in their stride!
FEB 2010 - New sponsor for Newhall Equestrian - National Equine Developments ( NED) will be sponsoring Newhall for the next two years!!!!!
